Earlier tonight I ran across a shared Facebook post about a missing 12 year old girl named Abigail Caitlin Cox. She’s local to me, from the same county and only about 20 minutes away. She has been missing since 6:30am.
I looked for more information about what was going on, but sadly have not found anything from either WGHP Fox 8 or WFMY News 2. They are the two biggest stations in this area, and neither one has mentioned her on their Twitter feeds, Facebook Walls, or official websites.
My question: WHY THE FUCK NOT!?
I understand that kids go missing all the time and that the news can’t cover such events on a regular basis, but when the girl missing is part of your local audience, you need to get off of your asses and let the surrounding public know. Not doing so, makes you a piece of shit.
Right now, there is more information coming out of a local newspaper, The Courier Tribune. They’ve posted updates on their Facebook page about her, and have a post on their website with as much information as they have. The Courier Tribune, though it tries very hard, does not have the same audience reach that the local news stations do, yet they are doing more to help get the word out than either of the news stations.
Help Find Abigail Caitlin Cox
Abigail Caitlin Cox, 12 years old. Call 336-622-3362 or 336-253-4306 or the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department. Wearing jeans, black and gray sweatshirt with Batman logo, black sneakers. Missing from our house sometime during the night. Discovered missing at 6:30 am.
As it stands, she is still missing and the local news apparently doesn’t give a fuck. They need to pull their heads out of the asses of these other stupid ass useless stories and try to do something that matters. Stupid assholes.
